Why Does It Matter

In Martin Luther’s time where the battle raged was different
than today, but he would have understood that the battle raging today
is about the age of the earth. Those who seek to relegate the Bible to
a book of Jewish fables know that if they can convince Christians
either that the world is billions of years old or that it doesn’t
matter, then they have won and those who buy into their compromises
will be neutralized in their effectiveness for God. When a person,
organization or church succumbs to the false ideas of the
evolutionists, they open themselves up to every other falsehood of the
world. For the last two hundred years that wedge of compromise has been
the age of the earth.
So does the Creation/evolution controversy really have an impact on you
and your family? Does it matter to you that the Mississippian layer is
missing from the Grand Canyon or that radioisotope dating is
unreliable? Probably not, what does matter to you is what standard is
to be used for your family and society to decide what is right or
wrong, what is moral or immoral, or even if such standards exist. That
is the core of the debate. Evolutionists try to pretend that they are
only interested in promoting a scientific theory, because they know
something very well, if it were a straight up and down vote on the
morality of each system, they would lose. Ultimately the battle comes
down to one very simple question, something simple enough for a 5 year
old to understand, who are you going to believe? That is what the
choice always is, do you believe what God has told us in His Bible?, or
do you believe the latest pronouncements from the
humanist/evolutionists?
The enemies of God so often see the battle more clearly than many
Christians do. Eugenie Scott, leader of the ultra-evolutionist National
Center for Science Education, said at a meeting of the American
Association for the Advancement of Science, “You can’t win this (the
Creation/evolution controversy) by scientific argument”. She said the
way to win was to subvert from within. “Our best allies were members of
the mainstream (liberal) clergy”. These compromisers like to pretend
that they are proclaiming the Gospel, but they are, at best, naïve
pawns in Satan’s long war against God.
So questions about geology, dinosaurs and dating methods do matter, in
that God has given us ample evidence of who He is and what He has done
as evidence of the truthfulness and authority of His Bible. Denying
God’s actions in His Creation is denying who God is.
