What Really Happened in the Garden of Eden
There are many Pastors and Christians who are frustrated because the
Church has so little impact on society today. What many are failing to
realize is that they want the Gospel to be dynamic while at the same
time they have allowed it to be cut off at the knees. They aren't
presenting the whole Gospel, because they have removed its foundation
by ignoring or compromising on the Creation message.
When Adam and Eve sinned, what they did resulted in three separate
changes. Their disobedience destroyed the perfect bond and
communication that had existed between them and God. Before sin they
had walked and talked with God "in the cool of the day" without any
barriers between them, with their rebellion that perfect bond ended.
Their disobedience brought sin, with its corrupting influence, into the
world. "The entire Creation groans under the burden of sin". Their sin
brought death into the world.
The
Gospel is the good news about the three central things that Jesus came
to do on Earth. He came to restore mankind's relationship with God,
once again a man would walk and talk with God with no barriers. He came
to pay the penalty for sin. He came to defeat death thru His
resurrection. These three things were done to specifically reverse the
three things that had been done by Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden.
Because, the last Adam, Jesus had come to reverse what Adam and Eve had
done; a Gospel message that fails to include Genesis is presenting only
half of the Gospel message. The Apostles understood this. When Paul
preached to the Jews, who understood and accepted the fact of Creation,
he didn't have to bring it up, because they already knew it. When Paul
preached to the Greeks, with their evolutionary worldview, he started
out by telling them about Creation and the Creator. Today we live in a
pagan world in which the dominant religion is
evolutionism. If we are going to be effective in
reaching this world, we must follow Paul's example by including
Creation in God's Gospel message.
But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:
I Peter 3:15
