Bible and History
Biblical geology and the authority of the Bible.
The Bible is a book that addresses many subjects, morality and theology being two of the most commonly thought of subjects. But it is also a book of biology, history, astronomy and geology. Discoveries in the Himalayan Mountains of Tibet make this truth abundantly clear. In an article on the web site Physorg.com dated June 11, 2008 is a report on the consternation of evolutionary geologists on their finding of thick layers of sediment at 15,000 feet elevation that could only have developed at much lower elevations. This discovery caused them to lower their estimate of the age of the sediment by several million years, but they were not able to explain how the sediment got there in the first place.
The Bible is not designed to be a textbook of history or science, what it is designed to be is an accurate record of both history and science. Its history of the Earth tells us both that the Earth is a few thousand years old and that it once experienced a worldwide Flood that covered the Himalayan Plateau with both water and layers of sediment. If the evolutionary geologists had put away their nonsensical speculations about the Earth and instead had followed the Bible’s truth in geology they would not have been confused by what they found. They would have understood that the layers of sediment that they found were laid down a few thousand years ago during the Genesis Flood. Although Tibetan geology is not a major area of interest for most people, the difference between truth and falsehood is. Millions of people have died because evolutionism’s effect on medical education to name just one area it has corrupted. For over 100 years evolutionary trained doctors removed perfectly healthy organs, because they had been taught that these organs were simply useless, “vestigial”, organs, supposedly leftovers from our evolutionary past.
The Bible is a book of truth in all of those areas that it touches upon. If we see the world thru Bible colored lenses we would always start out on the road to truth. God wants us to be perfect in all things, even though we know will not attain perfection in this life. Part of that road to perfection starts in taking the Bible seriously whether it is in theology, biology or geology.
