Promoting Contempt in the Guise of Respect
On December 14, 2008 the Discovery Channel reran a special titled “Noah's Ark: The True Story”. The Discovery Channel is totally dedicated to promoting the religion of evolutionism in all of its programs. So if they have a program on a Biblical subject, you can be quite certain that its true intent is to undermine confidence in Biblical accuracy and authority. Such was the case with this special. As is usual with enemies of the Bible, either thru ignorance or malice, they distort the actual Biblical account. One thing that they are terrified of is that someone will see that the Bible is in fact an accurate history of the world and take it seriously. In this program the narrator said that the Bible states that the Ark was made all of wood, but that is not true. Although God commanded that the Ark be made of gopher wood, nowhere does it state that metal reinforcing couldn't have been used. Metal had been in common use for at least a thousand years before Noah built the Ark, Genesis 4:22 “And Zillah, she also bare Tubal-cain an instructer of every artificer in brass and iron”. The people of the pre-Flood were people of great intellect and ability. Building an Ark such described in Genesis would clearly not be beyond their ability. The program then goes on to say that there are 30 million species on the Earth and that it would take decades to load them all on the Ark, even if there was enough room in the Ark for all of them. Like all of those who seek to discredit the Bible, they have to distort it first. What the Bible actually said was that Noah took two or seven of every kind of land animal. Based on the fossil record and living world there were about 10,000 kinds of land animals that existed before the Flood. That would mean that Noah would have had to take approximately 20,000 animals on the Ark, but the Ark could have held over 100,000 animals. All of the so-called problems with the Ark were simply figments of the producers' anti-Bible prejudice. The program went on to say that the Bible speaks of a worldwide Flood, but the narrator claimed that there was no evidence of such a Flood. The producers of this program of course ignored both the geological evidence of world-wide deposits of both sediment and animals laid down by water all over the Earth. They had to deliberately ignore the hundreds of flood stories in cultures all over the Earth. The Bible is an accurate history of the Earth. It has been tested for thousands of years without ever failing any test. What this program makes clear is that the only way that the enemies of the Bible can present “problems” with the Bible is by inventing them.
