Why It Matters! - Words Have Power

Are you pro-life or anti-abortion, are you a Creationist or an anti-evolutionist? The words used to describe something can have an effect upon how an issue is understood. Evolutionists are experts at using words to promote their religion of evolutionism.

For instance what does the word evolution mean? Evolutionists use a variety of definitions; whichever one makes their story sound better. Sometimes they use the word evolution to simply mean change and of course that use of the word is obviously correct. Evolutionists often try to equate evolution with adaptation thru natural selection, as in the book Darwinís Finches. The authors of this book document beak size change on the Galapagos Islands over the course of twenty years and show that beak sizes do change slightly based upon the food supply available. Everyone knowledgeable about biology would agree that adaptation thru natural selection of this sort does occur, but what natural selection can never do is to bring about a genuinely new kind of creature.

The use of the word evolution that creates controversy is the belief that somehow chemicals came to life over a period of millions of years and then somehow this life changed into all of the varieties of plants and animals that have ever existed without a designer or any plan or purpose. This is naturalistic, atheistic, evolution and this is what both the Bible and all true scientific research show to be impossible.

Words have power, when discussing a subject as controversial as evolution; itís a good idea to make sure that everyone is talking about the same thing.
