It’s Nice to be Appreciated by Your Enemies
In a letter to the editor in the Sacramento Bee, June 24, 2007, Robert Pringle & Paul Ehrlich advocate “Keeping science in debate over evolution”. As is usual with this kind of diatribe, the authors use both bad science and speculation in defense of their religion of evolutionism. They state that species can arise instantaneously by hybridization between existing species. This is the kind of bait and switch technique that evolutionists are well known for. Hybridization, such as a lion and a tiger producing a liger, only occurs between animals that are of the same kind and this process will never produce any animal that is truly new, which is what evolution would require to have happened. The authors then write that speciation can occur because of geographical separation, which is also true, but the determination of species is largely a naming game. Wolves, coyotes and domestic dogs are all classified as separate species, but that they are all of the same kind is made clear by the fact that interbreeding between them is possible.
The authors then trot out one of the most commonly used bits of nonsense used by evolutionists, antibiotic resistance in bacteria. Scientists know that in any given batch of bacteria there will be a tiny percentage of the bacteria that is inherently resistant to any particular antibiotic. This small remnant will then reproduce and over time develop into a resistant strain of bacteria, but it is still just bacteria; no new kind of bacteria has been produced. Bacteria are also capable of sharing genes along with any antibiotic resistance that may have developed in them. But in all of this there is no increase in genetic information and there is never any development of a new kind of animal. All true science tells us the same thing; molecules-to-man evolution is scientific nonsense. So I agree completely with the authors of this letter; by all means let’s keep science in the debate between Creation and evolution, and all true science supports the fact of Creation.
