Are They Just Stringing Us Along?
String theory is the new answer to all the problems in physics, or maybe it isn’t. Quantum physics and gravity do not work and play well together, so some physicists invented what is called string theory. This is the idea that there are at least 11 dimensions, seven more than we can actually observe.
The reason for writing on this subject is that one of the problems for many in modern science is the tendency towards arrogance. Because so much has been discovered, a common belief is that everything can be discovered, even if a solution has to be invented and that is what string theory is. It was invented to try to solve a problem in physics, not because there is one shred of evidence that it is actually true.
One of the saddest parts of this whole story is how eagerly some compromise Christians have embraced it, chief among them being Hugh Ross, proponent of the compromise theology called progressive creation. Ross’ whole theology is dependent on the Big Bang and string theory. What Ross and his disciples will do when the evolutionist establishment finally abandons both ideas will be both fascinating and sad to observe. The eagerness with which compromisers have embraced anti-Biblical ideas like the Big Bang is a sad testament to what happens when the Bible is not treated as God’s Word by those calling themselves Christian.
