It’s Downhill All The Way
A May 18, 2006 report by the American Association for the Advancement of Science is throwing a monkey wrench into the standard story of evolution.
For evolution to be true, at some time in the past chemicals would have had to self organize into a self-replicating cell. This earliest cell would have had to have been a very simple one-celled creature. Even the simplest cell would require several hundred thousand chemical letters, precisely organized, to regulate the cell. That is not what the latest research is finding. The May 18 report speculates that bacteria are stripped down versions of eukaryotic cells, the kind of cells our bodies are made of. For evolutionism this is a huge problem. It is like starting out with a Cadillac and having it devolve into a Model T. But where did the eukaryotic cells, the Cadillac, come from? These types of cells are much more complex than bacteria.
David Penny, a molecular biologist at Massey University in New Zealand, stated, “We do think there is a tendency to look at evolution as progressive. We prefer to think of evolution as backwards, sideways, and occasionally forward.” The reason he prefers to think of it that way is because the facts don’t fit the evolutionist story, so they twist their story into a scientific mishmash to try to force it to fit the facts. The idea that dead chemicals could ever self-organize into any kind of cell is total nonsense, but pretending that such a cell stripping itself down into a simpler cell is somehow support for evolutionism is ludicrous.
The research in this report is showing that cells started out complex and may have degenerated into some of the bacteria that we see today. This is what would be expected from a perfect Creation corrupted by sin, but not what naturalistic evolution predicts, as the report from the American Association for the Advancement of Science makes clear. All truth is God’s truth, even if the people who find it don’t mean it to be.
