Why It Matters
One of the things that many people, Christian or not, have difficulty understanding is why the origins question matters at all. They have heard about dating methods, fossils, distant stars, etc. and logically ask, does all of this really matter to me?, and the answer is, yes it does. The reason the origins question is critical is because it goes to the heart of the biggest question of all, is the Bible really God’s Word?
The search for truth is indivisible. When questions about geology, biology, astronomy, fossils, etc. are left by default for the evolutionists to answer, it will not be long before questions on morality and ethics will be answered by them as well. Then you get people like Daniel Dennett or Peter Singer setting society’s standards. Dennett is a professor at Tufts University who has written that Darwinism is a “universal acid” eating away at moral beliefs, especially Christianity. Singer is a professor at Princeton University who advocates killing disabled infants if they are inconvenient for the parents or society.
All truth is God’s truth. This means that when the Bible speaks on geology and fossils, the effects of the Flood – Genesis; biology, after their kind – Genesis; astronomy, He hangs the earth on nothing – Job; etc., we need to take it seriously. In my on-going correspondence with Ellie, she keeps up a standard evolutionary refrain, evolution is science and religion is just faith without any evidence to support it. Many people, including some Christians, have bought into this nonsense, but Christianity is about truth and God has given us an abundance of verifiable evidence of the truth about Him in all areas. Jesus warned us that some people would not believe the evidence that was right in front them. And he said unto him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead. Luke 16:31 and they weren’t.
