But what if they are right?
Although few Christians would ever say that aloud about evolutionists,
it is a silent undercurrent of fear that comes across from some people
in many of the churches and schools that I go to. I know, I once had
that fear myself. The fear is that if you look to closely at what the
evolutionists present, you might find out that they are right and that
the Bible is really just a collection of Jewish fairytales.
I believe that this unspoken fear is one of the reasons so many people don’t want to deal with the whole origins issue, but knowledge is power. In Hosea 4:6 the Lord says “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing that thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children”. And what has happened as the Gospel of Creation has been ignored or compromised in so much of the church? We can see it in a culture that is turning away from God’s law towards whatever is convenient. Yet we live in a time in which true science is producing massive amounts of evidence supporting Creation, but you have to know what that evidence is in order to use it. That is where you are responsible for knowing the evidence that God has provided us.
Can you answer some of the most basic questions in the Creation/evolution controversy? For instance, is there any scientific way to test for the age of the earth or the age of anything else? Can mutations bring about an increase in genetic information? Does the fossil record show evidence of change from one kind of animal to another? Can dead matter bring about the living information of DNA? These are some of the most fundamental questions regarding origins and being able to answer them does not require any kind of advanced education. A few basic books will give the information you need to know. Anyone who wishes to be effective in a world dominated by the religion of evolutionism needs to be able to answer these and similar such questions. Christians are not saved only for their own benefit, but to be witnesses “unto the uttermost parts of the earth” as well as to the people closest to them.
