It’s Not Fair !
How many times have you said, heard or thought that? All of our life
we hope for life to be fair, but why should we? When you understand
what God is telling us in the Bible, it is obvious why within the human
race there is a persistent desire for fairness. We are made in the
image of God; we have an inherent desire for fairness. God is not only
a God of love, He is also a God of justice. All societies have some
standard of justice that they strive for and those standards are
remarkably similar.
One of the great ironies in the Creation/evolution controversy is that
most people who proclaim that evolutionism is a scientific fact also
seek a world of fairness, without realizing how inconsistent and
illogical they are being. Evolutionists may be quite moral in their
conduct, but they have no logical basis for being so. Because if
evolutionism is true, than how does the concept of fairness even exist?
Animals don’t act with any semblance of fairness, the strong take
advantage of the weak and by evolutionists’ standards, that is good
thing. Survival of the fittest is a central belief of evolutionism, but
how many evolutionists would truly be in favor of murdering anyone who
has a significant defect? One country that actually put into practice
the logical outcome evolutionism was Nazi Germany. What most people
don’t know about the Nazis is that the first group of people they
murdered were not Jews, but Germans with physical or mental defects. By
evolutionist standards what the Nazis did was a positive thing for the
human race and yet how many people would embrace their actions?
One of the few evolutionists who understand what evolutionism truly teaches is Daniel C. Dennett who wrote the book Darwin’s Dangerous Idea
in which he presents the logical outcome of evolutionist philosophy. He
makes the completely logical argument that if evolutionism is true,
than there are no true moral or ethical standards. In his words
Darwinism is a “universal acid” eating away at all morals and
standards. All standards under an evolutionist system are whatever
those in power decide is “right” at that moment. In the twentieth
century the Communists and the Nazis both adopted this philosophy and
ended up killing tens of millions of people. An immediate objection
here is, haven’t people claiming to be Christian killed lots of people?
The answer is yes, but when they did it they were violating Christian
standards. When the Communists and Nazis committed their atrocities
they were acting in full accord with the evolutionist standard of
survival of the fittest.
One person who is consistent in his evolutionist beliefs and therefor
promotes the slaughter of those with defects is evolutionist Peter
Singer, professor of bioethics at Princeton University. Singer
advocates allowing parents of newborn children to murder them if the
child does not measure up to whatever the parents think is acceptable.
What he advocates is actually nothing more than abortion after the
fact. If humans are nothing more than an accident of mindless nature,
then killing the defective makes perfect sense. Thou shalt not murder,
does not exist as a human invention, but as one of God’s commandments.
It is only when we use God’s standard that we can have a real standard
of morality. The moral decay that we see in the world today is not an
accident; it is the logical outcome of a system of thought that rejects
God’s standard of right and wrong.
One of the absurdities of the Creation/evolution controversy is how are
those within the Church who seek to compromise with evolutionism going
to fit God’s moral standards into a system that fundamentally rejects
the concept of morality? That we as humans seek to find fairness in
life is one of the many examples of how we are not just hairless apes,
but creations designed by God in His image.
