What is True Science?
Modern science began in 17th century Western Europe in response to a
change in the worldview brought about by the Reformation. Gone was the
slavish adherence to ancient traditions, replaced by the individual
search for truth. First the search for truth thru faith in Jesus Christ
and the Bible, then expanding the search for truth into God’s Creation.
It was the belief of these Christian scientists that nature was God’s
Creation that made science even possible. It was their belief that God
created a rational, understandable Universe that gave them the
confidence to investigate natural phenomena.
Scientists like Keppler, Boyle, Newton and Faraday looked to find a
world that made sense. Keppler said that astronomers should see
themselves as high priests of God since they could so clearly see the
handiwork of God in the stars. Keppler abandoned the pseudo-science of
astrology and developed the true science of astronomy. Boyle turned the
attempt at magic called alchemy into the true science of chemistry.
Newton developed modern mathematics and physics. Faraday helped to
bring about the modern world with his invention of the electrical
generator. All of them, and many more, were Christians that came out of
a Reformation worldview that saw science as another way to understand
God thru His Creation. Unfortunately in the late 19th century the
disciples of the religion of evolutionism hijacked true science. True
science is based on observation, testability and repeatability;
evolutionism is nothing more than fancy storytelling.
At first evolutionists simply used a system of scientific investigation
that they could never have developed themselves and didn’t really
believe in. The truth of that is amply demonstrated in what is
happening in the scientific establishment today. Recent stories in
evolutionist magazines have shown how far from true science the
evolutionist establishment has departed.
In the August 2003 issue of the evolutionist magazine Scientific
American is the cover story “Are You a Hologram”. The story presents
the idea that the Universe is a light picture written on a
two-dimensional surface. This idea resulted from theoretical studies of
black holes, intense concentrations of matter that cannot be seen. This
is just one of many such stories invented by evolutionists that have no
basis in observable reality.
True science, science that has brought about airplanes, computers and
modern medicine is based on the Christian worldview that the Universe
is a real place, not simply a light picture and that the Universe acts
according to a fixed set of laws that can be observed and understood.
It was out of this Christian worldview that true science emerged and
flourished. It is precisely because this view of science works
according to fixed laws that evolutionists philosophically reject it.
Evolutionists worship at the altar of time and chance; the idea of
fixed laws doesn’t fit in with their idea of random chance and time
creating order.
That evolutionists are more than willing to throw out reality when it
doesn’t conform to their religion of evolutionism is best demonstrated
in their own words. In an article on page 39 of the December 2002 issue
of Discover
magazine is a very revealing statement showing how far evolutionists
have gone in leaving both true science and even plain reality. It is as
the foundation of reality is being destroyed by evolution that science
is beginning to slide back into the mysticism and fairytales that
characterized what was called science in the past. “And yet science
moves on at an accelerating pace . . In that realm, telescopes are
useless . . We’re entering an age in which the mathematical modeling of
the universe on a computer can tell us more about the earliest days of
the universe than any telescope can”. That anyone involved in
astronomical research could consider telescopes to be “useless” shows
how far from reality evolutionists have gotten. Evolutionist biologist
Richard Lewontin makes this crystal clear when he says, “We
(evolutionists) take the side of science (evolution) in spite of the
patent absurdity of some of its constructs, in spite of the tolerance
of the scientific community for unsubstantiated just-so stories,
because we have a prior commitment, a commitment to materialism
(atheism). It is not that the methods and institutions of science
somehow compel us to accept a material (atheist) explanation of the
phenomenal world, but, on the contrary, that we are forced by our a
priori adherence to material (atheist) causes to create an apparatus of
investigation and a set of concepts that produce material (atheist)
explanations, no matter how counterintuitive, no matter how mystifying
to the uninitiated. Moreover, that materialism is an absolute, for we
cannot allow a Divine Foot in the door” (emphasis added). Kansas State
University Professor Todd Scott makes the blind faith of evolutionism
plain when he said, “Even if all the data point to a designer, such an
hypothesis is excluded science (evolution) because it is not
naturalistic (atheistic)”.
The damage done to true science by this kind of religious belief cannot
be overemphasized. In medical science the blind belief in evolutionism
has cost the lives of many people who had organs removed that had been
declared to be useless leftovers of our evolutionary past. Of the over
100 organs once declared useless, all have now been shown to have
purpose. In geology the belief that “the present is the key to the
past”, uniformitarianism, led research into innumerable dead ends and
was decisively refuted by what happened at Mt. St. Helens in 1980. It
is now acknowledged, even by evolutionists, that the primary way that
the earth is reshaped is by catastrophic events, such as floods,
volcanoes and earthquakes. Meaning that events such as the Genesis
Flood are the best explanation for the physical structure of the world
we see today.
In every discipline of science it was Christians; such as Robert Boyle
in Chemistry, Isaac Newton in Physics and Louis Pasteur in Medicine and
Biology, to name just a few, who discovered the basic laws and
principles of science, in large part because of their belief in a
lawful and rational Creator. As the religion of evolutionism has
permeated science, the movement away from reality has become more
apparent. Expect to see ever more absurd ideas being presented as
science fact in the future.
